On Friday at a Mortons Steakhouse luncheon paid for 50/50 by the Southern California Pipe Trades and Jerry & Elizabeth Ann Paul, the foundation graciously received from the Southern Ca. Pipe Trades a check for $50,000(golf event) for Dr. Gills USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer research to help fund the soon to begin Phase II Clinical Trials of the Velglin treatment for mesothelioma. Sid Stolper, Business Manager of the Southern California Pipe trades had invited the various Contractors Associations, including but not limited to Rick, President, of the CPMCA organization, in order to hear a presentation by Dr. Gill and also the pleasure of handing Dr. Gill the check. Also, present were Jim Kellogg, International Representative of the U.A. of Pipe Fitters & Plumbers for California & Hawaii who had originally introduced Sid to the foundation and to Dr. Gill and his important research. Also, giving of their time were Tom Fitzgerald, Assistant to the Business Mgr Sid Stolper (golf committee), Dan Wheeler,U.A. Pipe Trades Special Representative assisting Int. Rep. Jim Kellogg, Eddie Barnes, Business Mgr. of Pipe Trades Local 250 (golf committee), John Hall, Business Mgr. of Pipetrades Local 78, "MO" Bob Modica, Business Agent from Pipe Trades Local 582(golf committee), Carmy and Lance from USC/Norris charitable development, and several other gracious guests from the Contractors Associations.
